An Inside Look at Anderson Hardwoods!
May 14, 2015

The Bishop Distributing Sales Team has returned from a great few days in Greenville, South Carolina and couldn’t be more excited about Anderson Hardwood Floors.

Last week Bishop joined the Anderson team touring two unique factories. The first was at Tyger River Correctional facility where we watched inmates perform every duty from pressing cross-ply oak and harder wood veneer core to hand scraping Dellamano. The Anderson Prison Work Program is centered on rehabilitating the lives of prisoners by teaching a trade and the value of hard work.

It was amazing to see the pride that these men had in their work and the caliber of quality that they are able to produce.

The wages that they earn cover room and board, pay into taxes, victim restitution, and family support. This highly successful program has proven to reduce the rate of recidivism.

The second was a more traditional plant that was automated in moving product from one line to another for efficiency but had numerous quality checks performed by highly trained employees throughout the entire line.

dinnerAfter touring these two plants the Bishop team had a chance to relax and spend some quality down time with the Anderson Team, enjoying dinner, drinks and touring the beautiful city of Greenville. We were also able to find time to cover, in depth, why Anderson is the hardwood flooring brand retailers and consumers should go to first.

Style and Design Leadership

While in South Carolina the Bishop Team had a chance to meet with Anderson’s product design specialists. The new finishing techniques, stain colors and product design that this team is working left us all anxious to see what will come next from Anderson. Their most recent creations have been introduced into the Virginia Vintage line, Churchill and Thorne Hill. Both stunning and timeless designs!
